Why Entrepreneurs with disabilities do not need pity to be successful.

“I am one of the lucky ones.”  Says today’s leader and guest expert. I discovered optimism after believing I was destined for failure and exclusion. When I got sick, I was forced into entrepreneurship and despite the little issue of illness, it was the best thing that happened to me. It allowed me to take a “no excuses” approach and to settle for nothing less than the results I wanted.

I astounded myself with my drive and beat my father’s legacy of having failed numerous times at entrepreneurship.

She runs Sick Biz; an organization dedicated to providing support, resources, hacks, and hope to entrepreneurs affected by chronic illness, pain, disability, and sickness. She is also the founder of J. Hill Marketing & Creative Services, an agency specializing in premier copywriting, editing and book editing for Fortune 500 brands and the “one-percent,” superstar entrepreneurs.

Today she shines a light on how she “helps people other rediscover their inner beliefs that will unlock their every potential”

How Women Can Create A Happy Life After Divorce

You are going to love my guest today. In a world of smoke and mirrors she is a great example of how to be you, and be happy.

If you network or are on social media it can seem as though everyone else is having the most wonderful time. This lady had the guts to say, “Well I’m not. At least I wasn’t. Here is why, and this is what I did about it”. Actually she didn’t say those exact words, they are mine but work with me.

She had the life that so many girls and women dream of. She married the man with the money, the home, the clothes, and the stuff. And then one day it was gone.

If you have heard me speak you know how much I bang on about female financial independence. And when things are going wonderfully, ladies look at me as the queen of doom. It is not about leaving relationships. Female independence happens inside and outside of them.

The problem is those that do experience separation are often ill-prepared and suffer worse financially than they need to.

My guest today faced it head on and started life again on her terms. Plus she is teaching others how they can do it too.

Video episode available below

Today I am going to talk about the recent furor regarding star of tv show Grey’s Anatomy & human rights activist Jesse Williams alleged cheating rumours and divorce proceedings.

This threw up two issues:

Black v white relationships

Man v women in relationships

The first point is a distraction. The impact of the second is what I am going to focus on in this episode.

Apart from the pop culture interest value, this is just another reminder of what being a woman is, or needs to be, because we cannot always anticipate being let down.

I talk about why I think we should give Jesse a pass; (kind of).

Plus why these stories are wake up calls, maybe even blessings in disguise.

Let me know your thoughts.

Having more than one source of income

November 23, 2011 by Georgette Rowland Osborne

While getting ready this week, John Cleese appeared on the tv doing a stand up comedy routine.

It seemed odd to me, so I turned up the volume to hear him end with the punchline “I needed the money”.

The clip was actually part of an interview in which he explained that he was no longer being offered as many acting parts and he decided to find an alternative way of earning an income. (I am paraphrasing; I can’t remember the exact words). So he wrote material for a series of Stand Up shows, and the inevitable DVD.

Taking into consideration he has also fairly recently been through a tough divorce that really hit him in the pocket; it got me thinking.

Here is a man who has achieved the type of success most business people can only dream about achieving in their own industries. The belief being that once they get there they will be set for life. Yet at the time in most peoples’ life when they are looking at the retirement or enjoying the fruits of their many years of labour; he is in the position where he is not as secure as he thought he would be and is having to shift gears.

Thankfully he is so established and respected enough in his industry he can turn to another revenue stream that is totally within his area of expertise, rather than looking outside, as so many business people do and end up no better off.

John Cleese has always had a number of products he could bring to market. His acting, writing, videos, to name a few. Consequently when one dropped off and he was facing trying times, he could pull on the others.

How many business people who if faced with the same scenario in their life could genuinely say they would be able to bounce back in the same way?

If demand for their main product or service were to decline, or circumstances depleted ready cash, what do they have in place to reduce the risk of financial meltdown?

“Dear Georgette, further to the work you carried out for one of my clients; I am writing to express my gratitude. The client was the first to admit that since incorporation the bookkeeping had been close to non-existent.

Compliance was causing him anxiety as the industry his company trades in is tightly regulated.

I received a call in which he expressed how relaxed he felt now that he was in good hands. I will not hesitate to refer you to family, friends and colleagues, as well as passing future clients to Precision/Financial Gym.”
